ABOUT ABOUT

A Night With the Gentlings

Scott and Stuart Gentling were brothers that moved to Fort Worth, Texas at the age of five. They shared a love of art that blossomed into a successful career in watercolor paintings. One of their most famous endeavors was Of Birds and Texas, a collection of paintings depicting the diverse species of birds and habitats from every region of Texas. Their attention to detail of the birds and the backgrounds takes your breath away and makes you feel as if you are standing in whatever region you are admiring.

Please join us and Jonathan Frembling, Gentling Curator and Head of Archives at Amon Carter Museum of American Art for a night celebrating the Gentling brothers' art and life. The evening will begin with some adult beverages and time to peruse our Gift Shop where prints Of Birds and Texas will be available for purchase.

At 5:30p, Jon Frembling will regale us with the exciting story of the Gentlings' art career (there is an Audubon tie-in, but we don't want to spoil the twist), discuss how their art impacted bird conservation in Texas, and answer attendee's questions.

Attendees will receive one drink ticket for an adult beverage (21 and up), receive 20% off select items in the Gift Shop, and purchase specially curated Gentling print bundles available only at this event.

We will also be auctioning off an elephant book of Of Birds and Texas, as well as a special gift provided by the Amon Carter Museum of American History pertaining to the Gentlings.
