ABOUT ABOUT

Audubon Conservation Ranching with Anita Gilson, Texas Audubon Range Ecologist

Bird Friendly Beef? What is that? Great question! Join us for a presentation on Audubon Conservation Ranching to find out how Texas Audubon and cattle ranchers are working together to create space for beef production and native birds.

Anita Gilson has served as a Rangeland Ecologist with Audubon Texas for 2 years, helping farmers and ranchers improve their bird habitat throughout the state of Texas. After receiving her bachelor’s degree from San Angelo State University and her Master’s from Texas A&M University in Natural Resource Management, Gilson has been dedicated to private lands conservation, working as a rangeland management specialist with the USDA-NRCS prior to Audubon.

A seventh generation Texas rancher, Gilson is passionate about keeping ranching traditions alive while bridging the gap between agriculture and wildlife. When she's not busy spreading the good word about best management practices for bird habitat, she can be found working the family ranch, hiking with her husband and dogs, and being a life-long student of nature.

Attendees will receive a ticket for one adult beverage (21 and up), light snacks and 20% off select items in the gift shop. There may be a special appearance of our animal ambassadors, too! Tickets are $10 minimum donation. We greatly appreciate any gift above this amount to support our mission of protecting birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow.
