ABOUT ABOUT

Join multi-award-winning wildlife photographer, Nick Kanakis, on April 29th, 9a-4p, to elevate your photography while exploring the biodiversity of Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center. Whether you recently bought your first camera or you’re an experienced photographer, we will learn how to go from snapshots to deliberate compositions. We will also work on making strong shots during harsh ambient light using gear like flashes and reflectors. If you do not own a flash, there will be several for participants to borrow. To close the workshop, we will cover post-processing techniques on Lightroom and Photoshop.

Lunch will be provided. Vegetarian option available. Bring water and snacks.

Nick Kanakis is a Dallas, Texas-based wildlife and conservation photographer. His work aims to ignite a passion for underappreciated wildlife—from birds to insects and vipers—by bringing a wide audience into the lives of these animals through ethical photography. Nick knows that powerful images can inspire admiration from those who once feared often misunderstood animals and give people a new respect for more familiar feathered inhabitants.

Nick is a multi-award-winning photographer including Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the longest-running and most prestigious nature photography competition, and BIgPicture Competition. Additionally, his work has been featured in the Atlantic, National Geographic (online), and BBC Wildlife as well as in other publications and photo exhibitions.
